ALUMINUM

Aluminum is easy to maintain with water and non-abrasive, clear (uncolored) fluid. The resulting finish is knock and scratch resistant, impervious to moisture, highly resistant to corrosion and easy to clean. Minor scratches will not have a significant effect on the longevity of the furniture -nevertheless these can be repaired using paint touch up.

STEEL

As with any item left permanently outside, steel furniture requires regular maintenance to keep it looking as new. Before the furniture leaves our factory the welds are ground flush and the surface is polished in order to provide a smooth, resistant surface that is easy to clean and maintain.

Although our steel furniture is generally resistant to corrosion, the surface is susceptible to cosmetic deterioration by the effects of salt water and air-borne chemicals and this may result in small brown spots appearing on its surface (this process is likely to be accelerated in coastal areas). These spots in no way affect the strength, integrity or longevity of the furniture, they are simply superficial discolourations that require cleaning to restore the steel to its original appearance.

Simple maintenance with water and soft soap. Avoid using scouring sponges and abrasive products as they remove the natural patina.

CORIAN

SSM are non-porous, so spilled fluids cannot penetrate the surface. Certain chemicals can cause staining or can damage the surface. These are strong acids, ketones such as acetone, chlorinated solvents such as chloroform, and combinations of strong solvents such as paint strippers. Daily maintenance is done with a mild abrasive cream.

The surface is renewable and minor damage and scratches can be completely repaired, restoring the surface to its original condition using fine sandpaper (320) or a soft abrasive cream and scouring pad. Mild cigarette burn marks can be removed easily in the same way. Washing with soap and water is usually sufficient to remove surface dirt or stains. Ammonia based liquid cleaner (not window cleaner) may also be used. Always rinse surface thoroughly and wipe dry. Drying is an important step, preventing a build-up of soap film or cleaning residue, which can create the appearance of light scratches over time.

For darker colors, a polish may be used to enhance the shine. For areas where there may be food contact, always use a polish formulated for food contact areas. Where food contact is not a possibility, a simple furniture polish may be used.

GLASS

Rinse with clear water or dish detergent solution and then dry immediately with a micro-fiber cloth. For stubborn stains you can use common Glass Cleaner. We also recommend regularly applying a Glass Protector which applies a water and dirt repellent coating to the glass.

WOOD

After each winter period we recommend to clean the wood with common Wood Cleaner and then apply two coats of Wood Protector.

The natural aging and color change of wood if desired can be counteracted by treating the wood 2 to 3 times a year with common Wood Renewer.

Wood furniture may also benefit from an occasional light sanding to remove any raised grain and restore a smooth finish to the surface. Under no circumstances should a power washer be used to clean wood furniture as this will erode the surface.

If you intend to store your furniture over the winter, we recommend that you do so in a water-tight garden shed or garage. However, we advise that you do not move wood furniture from the garden straight into a heated indoor room for storage, as the sharp differences in temperature and humidity may cause the wood to split.

FABRICS

Naturally, all fabrics are developed for outdoor use. Despite feeling soft and comfortable to the touch, fabric selection will withstand the rigors of daily use – from mildew and chlorine to exposure to sunlight and rain. Washable at 30°C. You can remove stubborn stains with non-abrasive soap and water. Store the material in a dry, well ventilated area during the winter.

CUSHIONS

The filling in all our cushions is made from polyurethane foam. Our fabrics are treated weather resistant, which makes them water and dirt repellent, the cushion filling is not water resistant, so we advise you not to leave the cushion outdoors when raining. If they do get wet simply remove the filling and leave it to dry.
